Every file below is a direct link to the asset on the GitHub release it belongs to, and every release lists its files with checksums in SHA256SUMS.txt. Not sure which one you need? The app is a program you run on its own; the core is a plug-in for RetroArch.

The desktop app, v3.9.0

From the v3.9.0 release (2026-10-14). macOS 11 or later, Windows 10 or later, Linux built on Ubuntu 22.04. What the app does is on the App page.

The RetroArch core, v3.9.0

One file per platform; put it in RetroArch's cores folder, or let the installer find the right one. 66 files are attached to the v3.9.0 release; the -debug.tar.gz symbol bundles are listed there.

Tools and checksums

jagcd-tools is a session-aware chdman for Jaguar CD images, cue2cdi converts CUE/BIN to CDI, SHA256SUMS.txt covers every file above and virtualjaguar_libretro.info is the core's libretro info file.

cue2cdi-linux-x86_64 · cue2cdi-macos-universal · cue2cdi-windows-x86_64.exe · jagcd-tools-linux-x64.zip · jagcd-tools-macos.zip · jagcd-tools-windows-x64.zip · SHA256SUMS.txt · virtualjaguar_libretro.info.

Nightly

The nightly is rebuilt from develop on every push that compiles; it is gated on compiling, not on the test suite. File names never change, so these links always fetch the newest build. The core files use the same names as a release, under releases/download/nightly/.

Or let the installer do it

One command installs the core, the app, or both, checks each download against SHA256SUMS.txt, and updates whatever you already have when you run it again.

macOS, Linux, Raspberry Pi

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/virtualjaguar-libretro/develop/tools/install.sh | sh

Windows (PowerShell)

irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/virtualjaguar-libretro/develop/tools/install.ps1 | iex

Options (--what, --channel nightly, --dry-run) and where each thing is installed are on the home page. Package-manager manifests (Homebrew, winget, Scoop, Flatpak) are rendered by CI as templates in app/packaging/manifests; none is submitted yet.

Signing and verification

The macOS app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized in CI, so it opens without a Gatekeeper prompt. The Windows installer is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen may warn. The core files are plain libraries and are not signed on any platform. To check a download, compare its SHA-256 with the line for it in the release's SHA256SUMS.txt: shasum -a 256 <file> on macOS and Linux, Get-FileHash <file> in PowerShell. Details: app/packaging/README.md.
